Complaint against Goldcar
I hired a car from Goldcar in ibiza for a week with children. Firstly I get the hard sell telling me the excess cover I purchased via car rental was not valid and wouldn’t cover me, I still held my ground and refused the hard sell. Upon collecting the car luckily it was on the roof level of the car park so I could check the car for any damage as it was pointed out to me the car only had 1400kmmon the clock. The car did in fact have two scratches which I got them to add to the paperwork and stamp. Then I return the car the man walks round the car says all fine, he gets in the car notes down the mileage etc checks the fuel is full, and he says all is ok. I repeatedly asked is everything ok with the car and will I receive my full amount back that has bee ringfenced on my card, I was told yes I would, I asked when and he said today. That was Saturday today is Tuesday, I now find they have released the ringfenced amount of 1550 euros but charged my card 150 euros. I had no idea what the 150 euros is for so spent £4.99 on skype credit and called there customer services department in Spain. They informed me it was for cleaning! The gentleman could not deal with my complaint on the phone and directed me to fill out a form from their website. I then contacted visa as far as this is an unauthorised transaction with no paperwork, I hold the paperwork where the Goldcar employed wrote OK on the check in of the car and stamped it. I had no knowledge of this inflated onerous charge. Visa have been really helpful And have suspended this payment whilst investigation can take place. Extremely annoyed I am having to spend time and energy on this, however I won’t be letting it drop until a satisfactory solution has been provided by Goldcar.
