Complaint against Goldcar

We hired our car from 19-29th August 2017 from Rhodium/Goldcar in Alicante Airport. The car was great and we returned the vehicle to the airport within the agreed timescales. However, on 7th Sept. I was charged an extra €30 on my Credit Card much to my surprise. I called Gold Car Customer Service only to be told that it was a 'Special Cleaning' charge had been applied for removal of sand! I would have understood if there was an excessive amount of sand in the car when we left it back, but this simply wasn't the case. We visited the beach once (the day before we left) and am very clear in my mind that there was only a light dusting. In my opinion the charge is excessive and therefore I should be refunded the full €30.

Hello Gillian, About the extra charge on cleaning, on our T&C, it is specified on 6.2, point a) Charge for 'special cleaning' for the costs incurred from an additional valeting service arising from the clearly inadequate state of the vehicle at the time of its return, with a maximum charge of €150. We expect our customer to return the vehicle in the same condition. Thank you. Regards, Victoria
