Complaint against Goldcar

I booked a car hire for one week in Bordeaux via a third party at which point I took outs a fully comprehensive insurance policy for a total of £95. When I went to collect my hire car, the Goldcar rep told me there was no holding deposit required as the insurance policy I had purchased was fully comp and that the only thing she needed from me was a deposit for the petrol. She then handed me a document and said "sign here for the petrol deposit". When I returned the car I was informed by another Goldcar rep that no money would be taken from the card and that my petrol deposit was no longer being held. Then the following day they withdrew £177 from my card. This was a total scam! Having done some research I have discovered this has happened to many others. I then came across a statement from Goldcar saying that all Goldcar reps always have to offer to take a holding deposit or offer you the option to take out a Goldcar insurance policy. THIS NEVER HAPPEND!!! They clearly intentionally tried to trick me by saying I had already purchased it and then asked me to sign a document telling me it was for something else. This is clearly an illegal operation. I should be fully refunded or I will have no choice but the take legal action.
