[RESPONDED] Paid in full for my hire car but when picking it up had to pay an extra £147 for insurance!!

Complaint against Goldcar

I paid for my hire car in full before I arrived in Palma. On arrival I had to pay an extra £147. I showed them my contract where it clearly says 'amount to pay is NIL' The lady on the desk said it was wrong and I had to pay the money or no car!! I had my family with me but had no choice really. Dear Shaun Neath, You have purchased the Super Relax cover instead of leaving the deposit of 1400€. This cover exempts customers from leaving a deposit and also protects the car against damages. Victoria, I did not want to take out any extra cover but you representative at the airport would not give me the keys unless I took out the extra insurance. I showed her my contract which clearly stated no further payment was required....that was not good enough for her and would not provide me with a car unless I signed!!! Once again, if you are considering hiring from Goldcar, dont!!!

Hi Shaun, Further payment is required as the deposit of 1400€ has to be either charged or blocked on a credit card. In case of damages we would've charged from it and refunded the difference, if any. Victoria, There was no damage, no extra fuel to pay. The only way I was RIPPED OFF by GOLDCAR was that I had to pay for the extra insurance (Which was more than the car hire itself!!!) or the woman wouldnt give me any keys for the car. ONCE AGAIN, IF YOU ARE READING THIS REVIEW....PLEASE, DO NOT GO WITH GOLDCAR, THEY ARE CHEAP AND WILL FIND ALTERNATIVE WAYS OF GETTING MORE MONEY FROM YOU!!!!
