Complaint against The AA

Dear Sir/Madam I have been a member of the AA for the last few years and yesterday (18/02/18) I had to call you out on home start as my battery was flat! My son dealt with your mechanic that you sent out as I had to get to work! It turned out that my battery needed replacing so your Mechanic got my vehicle going and my son had to follow him to PCS Motor Factors in Clay Cross in Derbyshire for a battery as he didn’t have one on his van to fit my vehicle! I was told the price would be £246.59 which I found to be very expensive but I had no alternative as I needed my vehicle! Land Rover discovery TD5! I have been speaking to a mechanic friend of mine and he said surly there must be some mistake with the price as the battery’s for my vehicle are not that much so I have just contacted PCS Motor Factors and they told me the cost of the battery which was put on! Yuasa 640 SHD is £91.50 + Vat?????? Could you please tell me why I have been over charged by £136.79??? I can understand having to pay some extra charge but more than double the price of the battery is daylight robbery! I look forward to hearing from you on this complaint ASAP! This is the email I have sent to the AA complaints Department on two occasions but all I keep getting fobbed off with is it’s been passed to the relevant department and they will be in touch in a few days but that the last I ever here of it??? Hi Andrew, thanks for bringing this to our attention, we believe that there will have been additional charges due to the breakdown occurring on a Sunday which is out of hours to source parts. Our customer support team have your complaint and will contact you in due course once this has been investigated in full.

Hi Samantha We were not told about any extra charges because it was a Sunday and the motor factors where you sourced the battery from was open as usual on a Sunday till 12.30pm! There weren’t any additional charges to you from the motor factors as they told me it had cost £91.50 plus vat! Not £246.59 which is what you charged me! You inflated the charge by 125%! Which is not exceptable!

Also I have contacted you about the complaint on the 19th Feb, 12th March, 27th March, 3rd April! And I’ve still not been contacted by anyone from your customer support team! Is this how you treat all your customers? It will be 7 weeks this Sunday! This should have been addressed long ago! Please get it sorted !!!!
