Is your car insurance bill driving you crazy?
Drivers could be overspending on car insurance by hundreds of pounds a year by not switching insurance providers or understanding all the different ways they could save money.
New data shows people are reluctant to switch insurance providers or get a black box fitted in their car, which ends up hitting them in the wallet.
Telematics, otherwise known as the famous black box, monitor a driver's technique behind the wheel, how fast they go, how quickly they take corners, what times of day and night they drive, and much more, meaning that careful drivers could see a reduction in their insurance costs.
So why not embrace it?
Only 14% of drivers say they would consider using a black box, according to This Is Money.
A staggering 35% of people didn't know that having a blackbox fitted could mean their premium would be lowered.
And a further 17% said they couldn't be bothered to switch to a telematics provider while 13% had never even heard of telematics insurance.
But obviously there are concerns that a black box could show insurers that you're a bad driver and premiums could go through the (sun)roof - and 19% of drivers are worried about this.
But the potential savings are huge - on average, having telematics insurance could save drivers £482 a year, which is not to be sniffed at.
It's especially relevant for younger drivers, aged between 17-24, who could save £938 when opting for a telematics policy.
Having said that, it isn't just the younger drivers who could be in the money.
No, 40-49-year-olds could save an average of £516 while 50-64-year-olds could save an average of £484.
