Samsung HW-UE8500 not sold as advertised by Samsung

Complaint about Samsung

I along with many in the UK purchased a Samsung 4k UHD television back in 2014 (UE-HU8500 ) The TV was advertised as being future proof as instead of having the chipset built into the TV it is in a box that attaches to the TV, so you can as Samsung stated in their advertising buy new boxes in the future as the technology progresses. At this point in time Samsung have only released one box (the SEK3500) that replaces the SEK2500 that came with TV. The original box although 4K did not contain the neccessary chipset to allow full UHD playback. Thisp new box (SEK3500) also does not contain the neccessary chipset to allow full UHD playback, but does increase the screens brightness and a few more tweaks but is a long way off from being a full UHD TV and is therefore not abiding by future television standards as originaly advertised by Samsung. Also Samsung have made the new box very hard to purchase in the UK. This lack of availability from Samsung has also had a knock on effect in terms of high pricing due to the lack of availability. Consequently many in the UK purchased their SEK3500 boxes from the continent but now Samsung are saying that they will not honour these purchases and allow them to be included in any UK warranties as they were purchased outside the UK. Also there are technical problems being seen when trying to connect the new Sky Q ultra hd boxes into the SEK3500 units but Samsung are playing hardball and are not acknowledging any issues with their upgraded box. Ultimately the grievance with Samsung is regarding their advertised promise that their UE-HUl8500 televisions were future proof and that future releases of new SEK boxes would allow customers to experience full 4K UHD viewing as the standards are updated in time. This is in fact not the reality as Samsung have already stated there will be no future SEK boxes being released globally Thanks.
