Samsung reneges on promise of upgradability

Complaint about Samsung

Hi, As other users have pointed out, I purchased a Samsung TV in 2014 model 65HU8500 based on the fact that Samsung promised that the TV would be future proofed with all future UHD standards. Samsung then released their Evolution kit in 2015 named the SEK-3500U. THis upgrade kit however was not released at all in Ireland and only in a limited number of online stores in the UK that specifically import them in. This makes it impossible for customer to purchase the upgrade kit unless they are willing to play a significant premium from an un-official source. In the US the kit can be purchased for as little as $300 but the UK variant is priced at £400 and even at that it is virtually never available. The kit can be sourced from a limited supply from mainland europe but Samsung claim they will not honour the warranty on this (which is illegal based on EU law by the way). In essence the crux of the issue is, that Samsung proimised upgradability (you can see here from their own website: http://www.samsung.com/ie/consumer/tv-audio-video/televisions/uhd-tvs/UE65HU8500TXXU) and then have never made this upgrade kit available in Ireland or the UK. Many Thanks, Ian
