old contract still running after starting new contract

Complaint about O2

old contract was coming to end o2 phone me and told me this and said would i like to start a new one which i said yes to that was 20 months ago. was looking at my direct depts and saw i had three for o2 phoned them and said about it was told i should have stopped old contract, they said it is in their terms and conditions and i should have looked at it just feel its unfair and they should have stopped contract when phoning me they must make thousands this way.
