Complaint about National Holidays
Re 2 day Break to Skipton, Haworth and Emmerdale (Esholt) On the 3rd & 4th September 2016 we went on the above short break, staying overnight at the Jury Hotel, Bradford. This was the worst short holiday we have ever experienced. First of all our Driver (Graham) was the most ignorant person, no personality and if you asked him a question, he would ignore you or be very short with you. We were on the coach from 7.40am and after picking up at five different points, including Cleveleys and arriving at Skipton at 11.00am with just a short toilet stop at Preston. We arrived at the Jury Hotel around 5.00pm. My husband suffers from COPD so we requested a room close to the lift when we booked the holiday. Our room was No.534 which was at the furthest point from lift, two long corridors to walk. I asked if we could have another room, but the hotel was fully booked and could not accommodate us. It was a good job we were only there one night. On arrival we were told that the meal would be served at 7.00pm. We arrived as a group at the first floor in what was the Conference rooms of the hotel. (The hotel had overbooked). The menu was different from the dining room down stairs. There was no condiments on table we just had little square packets of salt and peppers, like you get at McDonalds and no water on the table. We had to help ourselves to a glass of water from the serving area. ( no jugs) It was 7.45pm before we could help ourselves to the meal. We started off with cold thin soup, which was like water. The main meal was a choice of chicken and salmon. (The downstairs dining room was serving a carvery with all the trimmings). We fortunately had the salmon, but those people who had chosen the chicken, it was like rubber and they could not cut it with a knife. The potatoes was hard, and the green beans also. The meal was barely warm. The only edible thing we could eat was the cheese cake. We were told that our breakfast was booked for 8.00am, still in the conference rooms. When we arrived at about 7.50am, the rooms were full of Germans and some were still arriving. Their breakfast was booked for 6.45am, but they obviously did what they wanted. We were left queuing in the corridors until 8.15am before some of us could get a table. I know for a fact that our driver was disgusted with everything, and he had a word with management, but to no avail. When we went to serve ourselves there was no clean plates of bowls, and no orange juice left. When we did eventually get our cereal and toast, the bacon was nearly all gone and what was left was cold. There was no scrambled egg, tomatoes or sausage and we had to wait for some more to be brought up from downstairs. Even this was cold We left Harrogate at 3.00pm and we eventually arrived back in Cleveleys at 6.35pm having stopped for short toilet break at Preston. We booked this short break because on the 18th and 19th October 2014 we had a good driver (Andy) who was very pleasant and the hotel was very good and the meals were also good. So what has happened? This terrible experience has finished us with going with National ever again, so do not bother sending us any catalogue in the post in future. Hope you will take these comments on board.
