Hotpoint finally arranged TumbleDryer action, dictating I (over 70) get it down (& up) for Engineer

Complaint about Hotpoint

Hotpoint's booking 6 Oct 16 phonecall for 20 Oct 16 (many months after the original email on the problems) said I'd be emailed in confirmation of the 20 Oct date for the Engineer*, but this was not done - it came via text, which we'd explicitly verbally agreed would not be the case (though I'd reluctantly agreed that the actual time would be confirmed by text later). Hotpoint insisted that the Engineer's attendance was conditional on my getting the Hotpoint TumbleDryer down from the (not unusual) location above the Washing Machine i.e. they said the Dryer could not be lifted down by the Engineer - as he would not be insured to do such lifting. I pointed out that not only was I over 70, but too that I wasn't insured for such lifting either! Of course, by implication, the Engineer won't be lifting the Dryer back - thus he won't actually reinstall it i.e. So I don't understand how he can be said to actually complete the work on site, any more than this could be said of a factory operative refurbing a returned machine? & possibly lastly, I can't contact Hotpoint by email, as their earlier emails to be about replacements etc can't be replied to, & too: I couldn't ring Hotpoint back yesterday as a 1471 check showed no number recorded - just a funny peculiar noise! Similarly, already explained to Hotpoint, I find texting at best unsatisfactory as a means of communication. In short, I'd be very grateful for some Customer Service.

This last week I got a Call from Hotpoint offering me a "cancellation" replacement appointment, that same day & no mention of my alone having to lift the Dryer out : The Engineer duly arrived @ the given time & together we lifted vthe Dryer down i.e. from its awkward location & nec essarily involving a duct disconnect that I could not have done solo Hotpoint's onsite wk/advice took an hour
