Complaint about Gourmet Society

I received a letter thanking me for my renewal of membership on a card, for the gourmet society. I rang the free phone number stating that I did not want to renew the card as I have not even used it. The call receiver was not interested, stated that it was too late that they sent me an email, I told them that i had no email. The caller went on to say oh yes the email was never read, so could have gone to my spam mail. However they said that it was too late to cancel. I tried to escalate the call, but was told that i could have a call back in two days. I asked the caller if I could speak to a manager and they said yes but only in two days time. I have sent an email stating that I no longer want to have the membership and to cancel it. I believe this to be fraudulent and have never been treated this way. Trading standards or professional bodies need to deal with this. Thanks Karen.
