Harlands charching me over a year after contract was cancelled

Complaint about Xercise4Less

Hi, I have just found out that Harlands are charging me over a year from Xercise4Less cancellation, that is nearly £140. When I spoke to Harlands, they said that I have not received confirmation from the gym that my membership was cancelled, which meant that the gym manager did not accept my reason for cancelling. I have asked why I have been charged outwith 12 months - they said it's because the contract was not cancelled so it's just rolling contract and I still need to give them month's notice! Can anything be done with this?
