Tickets on sale at Viagogo before they had even been on general sale

Complaint about viagogo

The tickets for Queens of the Stone Age 2017 London Show at the O2 Arena go on general sale tomorrow (21st June). However tickets for the show were already being resold for the show on Viagogo yesterday. A whole 2 days before the tickets were supposed to be released! Unfortunately one of my friends got a notification about this sale, and thought it was the official release. It didn't display the final total to buy the tickets until he got to the check out which ended up being £153 per ticket (the face value of the ticket is £42.50) and was told he had 4 minutes to complete the purchase otherwise he would lose them. Having been on the site, the whole design of it seems to be set up to create a sense of high demand and urgency to buy for fear of losing the tickets. So he has ended up paying over £1100 for the 8 tickets he bought. The other issue is we aren't even sure the tickets are valid. The only way I can think that the tickets were being resold so early is through people who had bought them as O2 priority tickets which are released as a presale 48h before general sale for O2 customers for O2 venues. However if you resell those tickets anywhere else other than Stubhub (who they partner with) then the tickets are invalid. So basically we have paid nearly 4x the price for tickets that may not even be valid, and we don't seem to be able to check as the gig is not until November so the physical or e tickets my not be sent out for some time. Viagogo say they don't do refunds and the only thing you can do is resell them back on the site, which we could do but would currently make a loss on the original price paid and we don't even know if the tickets are valid.
