Slide Policy Change - Admin Charge to Change Hotel

Complaint about First Choice

Booked a hotel in Crete in May 2018 with an onsite waterpark. My kids will be 11 and 9 next year when travelling. This meant that my son could go on all the slides, passing all the height and age restrictions. However, I would have had to sign a waiver to allow my daughter to go on the slides since the age restriction is 10 years old. Now the hotel has removed the waiver and said that since she's 9 she would have to go in the infant splash park only. My son and daughter are both strong swimmers, and swim for their local swim club. Why would my daughter want to watch him on the big slides. We decided to change hotels but are asked to pay £200 to change even though it is for May 2018 and this policy has changed. We booked this holiday based on friends who have previously been. I feel annoyed that there is no common sense here, why do they even base the slide restrictions on age, yet everywhere else is based on height?

I ended up speaking to someone in the cancellations department and managed to change my holiday without having to pay the admin charge. Looking at other forums and reviews it looks like this hotel has many questions to answer regarding this change in the slide policy.
