[RESPONDED] Something for you

Complaint against Royal Mail

I received a "Something for you" card on Monday 21st December 2015, as Royal Mail tried to deliver a parcel which was too large for my letterbox. I called the number on the card and asked for a redelivery of the item and was told this would be Wednesday 23rd December 2015. When I arrived home on Wednesday there was no sign of a delivery being made and I also checked with neighbours and nothing had been left despite having a sign on my front door asking for parcels to be left with any neighbour. I phoned the number on the card again and was assured that my parcel will definitely be with me by 18:00. By 18:30 nothing had arrived and the office was shut so I was unable to contact Royal Mail. I phoned again today and was advised that I would have to wait until 30th December 2015 if I wanted my parcel or I could collect before 17:00. As I do not finish work until after 17:00 there is no way I can collect. I did ask for the contact telephone number for the depot so I could call them myself to arrange something and was told that they don't answer the phone for anybody. I've had parcels delivered by couriers during this week and couriers have left parcels at local shops so I can collect easily. Why can't Royal Mail make things easier for their customers and shareholders and offer a better service? Whilst this is the first time I have used this site, this is the umpteenth time I have had cause to complain about Royal Mail in the last few months.
