[LAPSED] Tracked 24 Hr Mail has been at South Midlands depot for three days

Complaint against Royal Mail

I ordered an item from a company in Newton Abbot on Boxing Day and paid extra for next day delivery. The company despatched the item on December 27th but tracking shows that today 30th December the item is still at the South Midlands Depot. I rang RM who were very dismissive and said that they were busy and next day delivery is not guaranteed. If this is the case why offer it as a service. The sender is to reimburse my delivery costs but it doesn’t seem likely I will receive any goods. The RM customer service adviser suggested it would arrive today, it is only about 30 miles away having travelled 170 miles in12 hours. I ordered two other separate items on Boxing Day both free delivery one next day which was successfully delivered by Hermes the other was Standard delivery which arrived Friday again delivered by Hermes. In future any online purchases I make will only be where Royal Mail is not the delivery company.
