Complaint against DPD

I paid £10 for a specific delivery slot, because no-one would have been home in the original slot. The driver came to the house, took a picture of it and left a calling card on the gate. He didn't even attempt to deliver the parcel, just claimed no-one was home. As if I'm going to pay £10 for a delivery and then not be in....... After I called and complained and re-arranged a delivery for that evening, I waited in the front garden, but he never showed. I tried to get a refund, but they told me I'd have to get it back from the sender! Even though I paid DPD for the delivery, not the sender! When I demanded to speak to a manager, I was told that there weren't any in the building. This was at 10:15, over 3 hours after the call centre opened. With service like this, how are they still in business?
