[LAPSED] Parcel returned to sender from pick up shop before having chance to collect

Complaint against DPD

I was expecting a delivery on Tuesday January 9th. As I was at work and didn't want to risk having to pick it up from the depot which is miles away and not at all convenient, I asked for it to delivered to my local pick up shop. I received an email on the day saying my delivery was delayed as they couldn't deliver and wold be delivering the following day. Just after 10 I received a text to say my parcel had been delivered and was ready for collection. When I went to collect later that day, it wasn't there. I was told the driver had taken it back! I checked the tracker when I got home, my parcel was at the pick up shop for 1 minute! Neither the sender or myself requested it be returned to Manchester so what has happened? Tried to phone customer service this morning but was unable to speak to a human, just got stuck in an automated service.
