My membership was automatically renewed on 27th December this year, though I did not want it to be and had not realised that the GS operated an auto-renewal system. I spoke to an advisor this morning who told me I had been emailed on 25 November to inform me that the renewal would be processed, but that the email had been unread. I have no recollection of receiving the email, and want to cancel the membership and have my fee refunded. The assistant told me this would not be possible. The renewal only went through two days ago, I have not yet received a new membership card, and I don't see any reason why the company could not refund the £39.99 they have charged me as and when I return to them the new membership card which I don't want, have not used and do not intend to use in the year ahead.
