Complaint against Gourmet Society
I started with gourmet society as part of their trial membership. I am a working mum and never got around ordering the card or using it. After 6 months, I noticed a deduction of £39.99 from my account after the trial period elapsed. I got in touch with them the same morning to ask for cancellation only to be told that there is nothing that they could do and it was part of their policy to deduct the full amount regardless of whether a card had been ordered or not. After explaining my position, the lady on the phone agreed to refund £10. I do not think it is fair to treat customers like this who have not even used your service. They mentioned that an email reminder had been sent before the deduction of the amount which I only got around checking after the deduction was made. Atleast, as a duty of care, the company should check if there is a live card and the service has been availed? I need my full refund and any help will be much appreciated!
