Complaint against Gourmet Society
I signed up to a £1 3 month trial of the Gourmet Society membership. Unbeknownst to me in doing this I had agreed for this to be 'auto renewed' at the end of the 3 months. The 3 month trial runs out on 14th May 2016 but they charged me £39.95 on 6th May 2016 for a membership that I was unaware of and did not want. I have never actually used the membership and given the renewal date of 14th May 2016 it is obvious that I have not used the new membership so requested a refund. The Gourmet Society have refused stating that this is in their terms and conditions. They also state that they sent me a reminder email although I have checked all inboxes inc spam / junk and have received no such email. I feel that this company is very unfair and sneaky at selling their membership in a very underhand way where consumers don't understand what they are infact signing up to. I wouldn't be as angry about the situation but I don't have £39.95 so this payment has now caused me financial hardship.
