£425 paid in error not refunded despite phone and e mail contact
Complaint against British Gas
I made an internet banking payment in error to Scot-Gas-Dual Fuel Sort Code 400530 A/C 71584865 of £425.75 quoting reference number 16021137867 on 15th April. It was my intention to pay my account with Scottish Power. I telephoned customer services at Scottish Gas (British Gas) and they stated that they did not have my money and that they could not help me as I was not a customer of their's. HSBC with whom I bank placed a trace on my payment from April 15th and confirmed the details above. (the payment was made from my current account with HSBC I can provide you with sort code and account number if required). On 25th June I e mailed British Gas customer services with my complaint asking for my money to be returned within 14 days and I have had no response whatsoever. Again I can provide this e mail along with the letter from HSBC with the outcome of the trace that they placed on the payment at my request.
