Complaint against Opus Energy

I run a small business and when I took over my first premises five years ago I got a bill from OPUS ENERGY for £600.I called them immediately and was told if I signed up with them that would be put aside. I did not realise I did not have to sign up with them as it was a bill at OUT OF CONTRACT rates for a period of time the shop was empty. Five years on I had been paying every month by direct debit and submitting meter readings online. Out of the blue I got a bill through the post for £980! I was told I had been charged OUT OF CONTRACT RATES for a nine month period for which I had already paid in full. They agreed to reduce the rates by 30% but I had already paid them over £400 for the period in question. They say I owe them £400 and refuse to budge so I have now passed my case to the ombudsman. I am being plagued with phone calls and threatened with debt collectors! My advice? DO NOT SIGN UP WITH THIS COMPANY THEY ARE NOT TO BE TRUSTED.

I agree, we had the same type of problems. The energy bills issued were incorrect and even after hours of telephone conversations over many months to clear the matter OPUS are still chasing me. Total clowns. I've now taken action to hopefully stop this madness.
