Complaint against SSE

We switched electricity from SSE to a cheaper provider on 25-03-2016. We had been on a pre-payment meter all the time we'd been with them. On 14-04-2016 we had a final statement off SSE saying we owed them £49.86. They'd used an estimated reading of our meter to come to this amount and of course with it being nearly 3 weeks into our new provider there was no way we could verify their estimate. We didn't pay it as I don't see how we could possibly owe them money when we paid for electricity as we used it. We have now received a final demand off them. I've just read about SSE's underhand tactics and I was wondering if anybody else had encountered anything similar. Thanking you in advance
