Lesley's complaint against Xercise4Less

[RESOLVED] - Cancelled my £9.99 membership online get sent admin fee letter from Harlands

Complaint against Xercise4Less

I cancelled my gym membership for xercise4less after my 12 month contract had expired. To do this I filled out their online cancellation form. A few weeks later I get an email from them telling me that my membership was cancelled. Great. That was nice and easy! A while later I get letters from Harlands saying that as I'd stopped paying direct debit payments to Xercise4less I owe them an admin fee of £25. I thought, no this isn't right, I wasn't told this would happen by the person who signed me up nor did it say anything on their cancellation online form. So I ignored it. Then I get more letters, saying that they'd increased the debt to over £70 and if I didn't pay they sell it to a debt collecting company. Why am I being hounded for a debt I don't owe? I didn't cancel my direct debit, I left that for Xercise4less to do like it said on the form. They sent me an email confirming my account was cancelled.

I contacted the company via Facebook messenger and complained. They looked at my account and said that they would cancel the charges. I got no formal apology though.
