I applied for a card renewal via this company's website thinking it was the official service provider (...org.uk!!). The website is very misleading and doesn't state clear enough that this IS NOT the official service for European Health Insurance Card nor that the cards are available free of charge to anyone eligible via the official channels anyway. Cleverly enough the payment form doesn't appear on the application until you actually input all your details, then a message pops up that makes one think that going forward it is necessary to pay for the card. I bet lot of people just accept it and give these people their money, like I did. But you only make such mistake once. The cloud service is also being miss-sold as it doesn't state clear enough that it is chargeable £5 annually! To add to my frustration, 15 hours after submitting my application, I cannot request a refund because the automated web form tells me that my application has already been checked and processed with the NHS (yeah, right, it has been a Bank Holiday!!). So the only alternative I have is to fill in a customer questionnaire and send through post, which is completely irrelevant and rather frustrating as seems a way to diffuse the original problem. Avoid this company at all costs. I would like my money back and all my details removed from your database EHIC DIRECT, as I am one very, very unhappy customer. Also, stop fooling people by hiding behind org.uk suffix to your website and clever T&C that cover your back side.
