Complaint against EHIC Direct
Complaint about Europeanhealthinsurancecard.org.uk or UKEhic.com (this is their email address) I went online to renew our EHIC card on 14 March. I used the MS BING search engine and the first hit was ukehic.com or Europeanhealthinsurancecard.org.uk. I was met with a "government-looking" website and assumed that the service was a paid service, filled out the form, and paid £35 by electronic payment. Just after the application being processed, my wife was back home. She told me that it should be free, and we HAVE ALREADY extended the EHIC card last year. I then checked NHS website which stated that the card was indeed free and not £35. I then, within half hour of my application process, tried to cancel the transaction through phone calls, from their website and emails. The phone calls would just re-direct me to a recorded message and emails were not answered until second day and the customer services dept said that the transaction had been processed and cannot be refunded. The website and application process is very misleading in that the description of the service is very small and very easily to be missed, and we feel being cheated somewhat by EHIC. This company now has got a lot of my private information now. I will be forwarding my complaint to Ofcom if no satisfactory resolution by them by the end of today. I am a pensioner and cannot afford the money lost.
