Complaint against EHIC Direct

Very annoyed with myself that I got hoodwinked into paying them £34.50 to renew an EHIC card which I could have done for free. I was misled by the ....org.uk web address. They quote the statutory14 day cooling off period in their t's & c's but claim that it does not apply if the service has already been provided. When they confirm your order they claim that they have already started to review it and even say at what time they started - almost certainly untrue in my opinion. Anyway I did cancel through their website within about 10 mins as at first it didn't recognise my details and I got a confirmation that I would receive a refund "in accordance with their T's & C's" which say that in "exceptional" circumstances they will offer a refund but deduct a £10 admin fee. I shall wait and see. The additional £5 that other people have mentioned is for the option to store your details on a "cloud" in case of loss of card - it is not clear when you tick this option that they will charge extra for it. I also sent a notice of cancellation for that service as well, just in case. A really parasitic company who know that they are deceiving people but have devised "clever" T's & C's to get around it.

Not only do we check the application for omissions and errors, we also confirm the details to you in writing to avoid any mistakes occurring, and send out a renewal reminder before your cards expire, for this we charge a service fee, however you always have the option of using the free NHS automated service instead if you wish. Ehic direct would only hold back an admin fee if work had been carried out on your application. Please can you confirm that you have received you refund?
