An astonishing story in today’s Daily Mail discloses that Boris and his fiancée Carrie Symonds had £27,000 worth of luxury food delivered to them without anybody knowing.

The question is who paid for the food? They were provided by Daylesford organic farm shops, owned by Lady Bamford, from last May to February. She is married to Lord Bamford, owner of JCB construction giant and has given in his time £10million to the Tories.

The Daylesford dishes, rich in iron, proteins and vitamins were designed to revive Boris’s energy levels after his brush with death.

In a secret cloak and dagger operation-clearly designed to make sure nobody knew- Boris is referred to as Alex, some items are marked as charged to LB’s account-code for Lady Bamford.

​The staff were told to use plain white paper bags for the meal deliveries not the ones carrying Daylesford logos so journos and staff hanging around No.10 couldn’t put two and two together.

The food was delivered to the rear entrance at No.10 by a butler on a Boris bike.

I am in favour of our Prime Minister eating well but not in favour of the secrecy and the subterfuge which leaves Labour shouting for an inquiry.

I want their nanny to be paid for by the State, I want his fitness trainer paid for by the state, I want his decent food paid for by the state.

He’s the PM for God’s sake and he shouldn’t have to be hiding behind the door getting free food sent round. Its demeaning. He’s not paid enough already without having to go cap in hand to donors to have a cheese sandwich.
