Disgraceful cancellation charges and process
Complaint against NCI Insurance
- sold car and telephoned to cancel policy. Queued for 45 mins and never answered - emailed to cancel policy and no acknowledgment - completed their online form to cancel and no acknowledgement - telephoned and queued 2 further times for 45mins and never answered. - emailed to chase 3 weeks later and no reply. Came home today to letter saying they need me to call with bank add details for my refund of £14. Policy cancelled with 6months left. Asked to explain refund and listed they charge me for their lost commission and also a £75 charge as "they are a broker and that's in our terms of business". The FCA does not support companies charging customers excessive fees which don't reflect the work involved. £75 is excessive. Also - their business model is a broker to earn commission from finance providers. They make money on every deal. How can they justify charging a customer for their lost commission - that's a lose lose situation for a customer and not a fair outcome. Lastly - date of cancellation was 1 month after I cancelled and the reason "we were waiting on our bank card details". What a disgraceful company and I will certainly highlight them to the FCA.
