Complaint against Goldman Reeves
In October 2016 I was taken in by an offer of a free sample of RVTL Anti Aging Cream which appeared on Facebook. I clicked on the link and filled in the required information but changed my mind as I got to the end of the page and decided not to go for it but when I tried to go back the form was automatically submitted. However as there was only supposed to be a postage charge of £3.95 I didn't think too much was lost and I would just ignore the free sample and not take up a subscription. I then noticed that £9.90 had been taken from my credit card and I went into the bank and asked if they could block the payment. They said that as the payment had already gone through there was nothing they could do about it but that they would block the seller from then on which, thankfully, they did. They also advised me to contact Arc Labs Inc to tell them that I wished to cancel all services with them. I tried telephoning them with no success so, on 4 November 2016, I wrote to the address that was noted on the Dispatch Note with the "free" sample. I sent the letter by Signed For mail and it was returned to me by Royal Mail with a line through the address. I thought that would be an end to the matter until I received a letter from Goldman Reeves Ltd dated 8 March 2017 saying that I owed the sum of £49.50 and the original creditor was noted as "Equinox Day and Night Serum". The notice requests payment within 30 days. I am not sure where the sum of £49.50 comes from as, apart from the original "free" 1 oz sample of RVTL Anti-Aging Cream, I have not received anything else from Arc Labs Inc or anything from Equinox for that matter (whoever they might be). I was obviously very concerned to receive the letter and googled Goldman Reeves Ltd and it seems that a lot of other people have been caught by this "free trial" scam. I obviously don't owe this money but it is very worrying and I am not sure what I should do now and would appreciate any help.
