Five years ago as i was queuing to get some money from the cashier in Halifax bank, one of their staff approached me and told me about opening an account she went through the benefits if i get my wages through the account, i told her i was interested but i did not have proof of identity with me so she informed me that they could not open up the account with out proof of address and my identity. I promised the lady that i will bring the necessary documents the next day.When i reached home i thought about the account and decided not to go ahead with it, i assumed that since the lady had mentioned that they could not open the account without my documents i did not need to bother to contact the bank.So i carried on with my life,i was shocked one year later when i got a letter form Halifax demanding that i needed to pay them money for using their account, i called them and explained to them that i thought they never opened the account, l told the lady to close the account if they had opened it.Two years later i received another later from Halifax demanding money for using their account this time i wrote to them and never received a reply.To day i have received a letter from the county court that i have to pay a balance of £790.49 if not they are sending the bailiff to seize my goods.I really think that am treated unfairly as i have never used the account nor have i ever drawn any money from it.
