Engineer came out to inspect our fridge freezer and immediately recommended a replacement. D & G were supposed to phone within 24 hours to discuss a replacement model. No phone call after 48 hours so I rang them. They tried to fob me off with a Samsung replacement to the value of £712. Our fridge freezer is AEG and cost £2,000. They just kept repeating that they replace it with a model of the same specification and that they don't look at cost. Very convenient for them. I got passed from pillar to post explaining the situation to different representatives and pointed out that I didn't think they would be happy if they had paid £2,000 and were offered a £712 replacement. We were also told we could have the AEG but would have to pay a £350 upgrade fee, but the Model was not an upgrade it looked exactly the same as the one we had. Another representative offered us a French style fridge freezer with a drawer at the bottom, when ours is an American style. Yet another representative said we could have an AEG but they don't offer any AEG fridge freezers with a water and ice dispenser, therefore completely wrongly stating they replace with the same specifications. Finally got through to the resolutions department, who said i was not letting him resolve the situation as I wouldn't accept his offers of an alternative model two thirds cheaper than ours. All our appliances are AEG and they have all been insured with D & G since we purchased them six years ago. This company is absolutely dreadful, I have cancelled all policies with them now. They offered a cash payment in the end, and acted as though they were doing me a favour by offering me £999, half the value of our fridge freezer. They should have replaced it with the latest AEG American fridge freezer model, which is what we insured.
