Complaint against Santander

Santander would not remortgage my house although I have a large equity. Now I'm selling and my buyer has applied for a mortgage with Santander about 3 months ago. We had been hoping to complete by today, but Santander retained the money and asked for extra surveys to be done in the 11th hour. Now we've been waiting for 3 weeks to exchange and the reason is that Santander seem to be unable to come up with the paperwork. This is now incurring extra costs and a lot of inconvenience and lost working hours (people booking time of work to help with the move, etc) for a lot of people involved. Every single person in this chain have said that this is scandalous and that this bank is atrocious! We are looking into some kind of compensation.
