Complaint against Tui
My 83 year old Nan and Grandad planned to book the holiday of a life time, a Thomson Cruise. Unfortunately my fit as a fiddle Grandad suffered a severe bleed on the brain, he was rushed to hospital when we were told to not expect him to last the night. Devastating news for the whole family, especially my nan who'd been married to her child hood sweetheart for 62 years. My nan had already paid in full for her cruise in the February so rightly assumed Thomson would show compassion for the terrible circumstances that had occurred. How wrong she was. Thomson showed no sympathy towards my nan, and informed her that she would not recieve a refund of the £2800 that she had previously paid. They told her she did not have insurance therefore would NOT get the full amount reimbursed. They gave my nan LESS than half back of what she had initially paid. I was shocked at Thomson's behaviour, they didn't take any interest in the fact my grandad was in hospital in a Comba they didn't even bother to look at his doctors note. I feel my nan and grandad have been completely ripped off by Thomson Holidays, they've showed no compassion for what has happened. They simply pass the blame by saying 'you didn't have insurance' well why would anybody buy insurance 6 months before going on holiday? Sadly my nan and grandad will probably never afford to go on holiday again after losing such a large amount to Thomson Holidays.
