Rohit's complaint against Quidco

Rohit Thakker

[RESOLVED] - Quidco MISLEADING ADVERT - £10 Cashback on purchase of £25 or more by 23:59pm on 24 November.

Complaint against Quidco

It is with regret that I have to raise this formal complaint about the tactic (misleading advert) Quidco is using to use it members to earn money from retailers and then dump them under the pretext of terms and conditions On my Quidco Hompage, after clicking, I got a message Great news! You've qualified for your £10 cashback bonus Offer activated! Nice work, you're part of an exclusive group. Simply shop online at either Argos, GAME, Zavvi, Toys R Us, CD Keys or LEGO via Quidco, and a make a purchase of £25 or more by 23:59pm on 24 November. Please note: We'll add your £10 cashback bonus to your account once your purchase has been confirmed. I made a purchase accordingly at Game for £27.98 and surprise, surprise, the tracking is only on ex VAT price - £23.32 . As the tracking is on an amount less than £25, I will not be getting the £10 cash back. The advert headline was clear - " make a purchase of £25 or more" (No mention of Ex VAT) Quidco have responded 'Cashback isn't paid on VAT and delivery charges, this is stated on all retailer's Quidco pages' On the advert there is a link for Terms and conditions and one of the conditions does state the spend of £25 has to be VAT and deliver exclusive. How many customers would have been mislead by Quidco in this manner and would have shopped. Quidco will make a killing on the sales and the poor members have been cheated. Quidco should be investigated for fraud and criminal activity.

ASA Complaint was upheld, resulting in Quidco removing the ExVAT. My order was never delivered and hence cancelled, was a waste of time. Legislation has to be updated to cover cashback sites misleading and at times cheating customers out of their money.
