Potentially lethal Sport Rider mobility scooter

Complaint against Pro-Tec Mobility Trading

4.8.2015. I purchased a Drive Medical Sport Rider mobility scooter through a company called Pro-Tec Mobility Trading ltd. During September 2015 the scooter developed faults, condensation appearing in the 2 instrument dials when the scooter was used in the sunshine and a throttle malfunction which has proved to be very dangerous in that the scooter shuts down at random and has on several occasions leaving me stranded in the the carriageway of a road I have been trying to cross. I have discovered cosmetic damage to the rear shroud of the scooter at a point where there axles pass through the shroud on both sides, indicating poor fitting and/or rubbing of the mudguards against the shroud. The scooter has been collected by Pro-Tec Mobility Trading for repairs to be carried out but I feel that this scooter is potentially dangerous to my safety and should be replaced completely with a brand new scooter.

I have been contacted today by Pro-Tec Mobility Trading (Factory Outlet Scooters) regarding my issue with the Drive Medical trike that I have been having problems with. The outcome of the issue is that next Thursday I should be taking delivery of a new replacement trike as it is deemed the most satisfactory outcome for all parties. I will update this site on receipt of my new replacement scooter and I will subject to the replacement scooter performing correctly close this issue.

Last summer I bought a sport rider from pro-tec mobility. In january of this year I dtarted having prolems with scooter (the problem being the same as yours it cut out at any time and in some dangerous places) I rang pro-tec several times and each time was told the boss would ring me back I'm still waiting. Because of pro-tec's lack of any after sales service I've had to use a local dealer to get back on the road, unfortunately they could find the cause of theof the cutting out.

We are also having problems with a scooter that keeps cutting out, initially we had new batteries as they were 3 years old, however a few weeks later the same problem started again, after much negotiation and after us getting a second opinion, Protec finally agreed to replace the batteries again, however 5/6 weeks later we are back in the same situation with the scooter cutting out again Could you all let me know which branch of Protec you have been dealing with please? regards

I bought my scooter on line from the Grantham branch but have rang all the other shops and left messages and still I'm waiting fror a reply

This company will only respond to threats of legal action and research of the Sale of Goods Act could supply an avenue to resolve the issue. The company have 1 attempt to repair to your satisfaction and if not repaired correctly you should demand a replacement or your money back. I am led to believe that a batch of these scooters were sent out with faulty ECU's (Electronic Control Units) and this is causing the intermittent scooter failures. KEEP ONTO THE COMPANY AND SUE IF NOT SATISFIED.
