Complaint against Countrywide

We have two rental houses both of which were with Countrywide. Under the contract whereby Countrywide takes conmission for ever, almost the only thing they had to do was deal with the annual lease renewal. Last year they failed to do this. So now we have a Periodic Tenancy instead of an AST. Much more risky and greatly increased tenant rights. They didn't bother to tell us about this until we asked about renewal this year. No apology and they've done nothing to try and remedy things. They are therefore in breach of contract - but of course haven't stopped taking money! Anyone else had this problem? (Thoughts on the line of running parties in breweries!)
