Complaint against The Able Group
My tenants lost their hot water supply so I phoned Able to ask if they could sort this as I live a 4 hour drive away so not really close enough to do the job myself. Able hot line were very polite and helpful and I was told they could fix the problem Saturday morning and that this was NOT out of hour charge rate as Saturday mornings were classed as normal rate charge out at £65 hour plus vat - why do companies always do this when dealing with the public that are unable to claim the vat back it’s just wrong on so many levels. Anyway THEY cancelled Saturday morning with some lame excuse and re booked it for Monday between 5 and 7pm and I was assured I would not be charged out of hour prices as they had changed the appointment however, having arrived and messed around for a terminal emergency time taking an entire hour to change the hot water element in a vented system so not even necessary to drain the tank down I am then charged over £135 + vat for the call out and a further £40+ for the cheap and nasty element that I could have purchased for less than £30 from any merchant store! Over £201 to replace a simple hot water element is outrageous. Over £135 an hour is more than £1,000 A DAY INCOME that’s more than I get to live on in 2 months and they have just robbed me of half my monthly income for something that even at 70 and female had I lived closer I could have fitted in half the time and half the cost.
