Complaint against ASDA
Totally disappointed with Asda, Dundonald. We run a Christmas charity fair in our church hall in Belfast every November for 2 different charities each year. The money raised is split between a church-related charity & another non-church-related charity locally. Every year Tesco & Sainsburys freely give us a generous contribution towards the ingredients needed for our chocolate fountain stall (eg strawberries, fudge etc which can work out quite expensive hence why we were asking for help). Last year we asked Asda for a donation towards these ingredients & they told us we hadnt given enough time (2 weeks notice). This year we planned ahead & gave 6 weeks notice with an official letter from the minister on headed paper & left it into customer services addressed to the charity co-ordinator. Tesco & Sainsburys contacted us the day after leaving letters with their charity co-ordinators & said their contribution was ready to be collected. As it is now only 10 days until the fair, I called into Asda this morning & spoke to the co-ordinator who told me she never received the letter & asked me which charities it was for. I told her the local charity was currently being voted for but the church-related charity was an organisation that rescues young girls from being trafficked in Bulgaria (supported by our church). She immediately told me that Asda would not support this at all, with it being outside the UK & Asda would not be able to contribute to the ingredients for our chocolate fountain stall. I asked would they support the local charity & was told no as there still a connection to the charity outside the UK. I am beyond disappointment and cannot believe any large company having a discriminatory policy such as this in this day and age of equality & non-bias. It seems there is a different excuse every year. I just thought I would bring this to your attention as I am very disappointed in that company and hope that they may perhaps look into their policy in the future.
