Complaint against Argos
I went to take my mamas and papas car seat in to argos for a refund due to an urgent recall , i was offered 49.99 (half the price i paid because i didn't have a receipt from over a year ago, ) on a gift card with no other alternative This was on the 2nd may 2016 at around 1 o'clock , When i returned home my partner was fuming so he took the gift card back to the store and demanded a full cash refund as the argos site site , itv news , bbc news and all other sites state with no receipt necessary as the seat is only sold through argos . He spoke to the first manager who was awful ,No help at all and was quite rude , This was a lady possibly of Indian origin, my partner logged a complaint and was told that it wouldn't even get looked at . So as it stands i am left with £49 to try and replace a car seat with which isn't going to happen , a complaint which wont even get looked at (according to argos staff ) and no use of my car until i fork out for something which i shouldn't have to ..... it is not customers fault that an item has had a serious recall , we should not be left out of pocket for it and without car seats .... , Mamas and papas would have refunded Argos for the seats so why not customers ..... I would have been perfectly happy with a trade of seat so that i could still travel with my 2 year old daughter . I had a recall on an item for Smyths a while ago and never had an issue , i walked in , handed it over no receipt needed as it was an item only sold by them , i received a full cash refund and a £10 voucher to spend in store as a good will gesture ... I think Argos need to take some time to look at how other stores deal with things or someone higher up the chain needs to take a look at the facebook page as it is pretty simple to see that people are not happy.
