Complaint against Argos

My order of a new cooker arrived in the dedicated time, I had paid for my old cooker to be collected by them. Once my new cooker had been hauled into my home, they looked at the cooker (which had been disconnected and cleaned) and informed me they had no space on the vehicle for it. They called the ops centre and said you,ll get a refund. But if you leave it outside tonight it will be gone by the morning. I called the customer services phone number and was curtly told If there is no space we cannot collect it . I have now had to arrange for my local council to collect it at added cost and inconvienience , Argos did say they would pay for this (I will wait and see if this happens) How can a company offer a service and enter into a contract for this service and then simply refuse to honour it. with the reply of a refund
