Complaint against Groupon
I bought a Groupon Voucher for a restaurant. That restaurant changed and is no longer honoring the voucher. That is why I called up Groupon to get a refund. The person that I spoke to at Groupon asked me to get a statement from the vendor that they will not honor the voucher. Very weird. That is why I asked to speak to someone who has more common sense-never got through to anybody. My understanding was that her manager will call me back. I did not receive any call. Still my request for a refund was communicated in writing to Groupon. Now much more than a week after my request for a refund I am still being told that they are waiting for feedback from their "Resolution Team". My take: -The remaining time to use the voucher is short. -I demanded a call from someone who can make decisions at Groupon's end more than 1 week ago. I never got that call. -The vendor is telling me that they have been in touch with Groupon and advised Groupon that they closed down. -If that is true I wonder why Groupon has not automatically refunded the money. -Even if the vendor has not been in touch with Groupon I wonder why it takes >1 week to verify that the vendor is not honoring the voucher. I got through to the vendor by dialing the phone number on the voucher during office hours. -I buy quite often things on Groupon but recent experience has been VERY bad. Terms of vouchers have changed quite often. Refunds were sort of forthcoming in the past. NOW customer service is substandard.
