Tumble dryer almost set fire

I bough an Indesit tumble dryer approx 4 years ago. Last year we found out this was on a recall list. Hotpoint gave us the option of a new dryer for £99 which we took. They insisted they remove our old machine which cost about £250 (by this point we have paid approx £350) after only 2 months the new replacement dryer almost set fire. The engineer found burnt fluff in the heater and said it was not safe to use. Hotpoint wanted to fix and modify it (it shouldn't need modifying) but we insisted on a new machine. 2nd replacement has now also started to smell of smoke after 3 uses. This model needs recalling TD WSF EPZ (UK) if you search online for it you can't even find it. Currently waiting on a decision about what is going to happen next. They have offered a different model but we are awaiting clarification on its safety before we agree to it. They have cancelled the engineer for Friday which was booked last week.
