Complaint against Currys PC World

Having bought a Bose internet speaker (cost over £400), I was unable to set it up via the necessary app. Bose were very helpful, and having identified the product via its serial number, were AMAZED to discover that the example I’d bought was made in April 2016 - nearly 4 years ago!! It was running version 9 of the installation software, the current version is 26! After around 40 minutes on the phone, the Bose technician had enable me to manually update the software and complete the set-up. I complained to Currys about the sale of such old stock, and the time/inconvenience incurred in setting up the product via the Bose helpline. The complaint was sent, re-sent, and re-sent again, and information was provided as requested for ‘data protection’ compliance. The company’s response was sent THREE WEEKS after my initial e-mail, despite their aim to deal with complaints within 3-4 days. They rejected the ‘old stock’ issue, as the product was still ‘new’. They rejected any compensation for the time and effort involved in my resolving the set-up issues. To add insult to injury, they also pointed out that I could have returned the product WITHIN 14 DAYS, for a refund, seemingly oblivious to the fact that their delay in responding had taken the date beyond this point!! Needless to say, I shall never use Currys again, and have alerted numerous people to this situation.

Who is Taslima?? I have already complained to team know how, and been stonewalled. This is despite the above, and a similar response of extreme surprise when I spoke to Trading Standards. To add insult to injury, having eventually received a response to my request to exchange the item, 3 weeks had gone by, and I was told that I was ‘out of time’ for an exchange!! (2 week limit). Outrageous.
