[RESOLVED] - PRODUCT SUPPORT AG

Complaint against Currys PC World

I buy electronic/computer components from Currys as it is very close to my work. But I don't remember signing any insurance or service contract. This month I found that there is a transaction in my bank account named "PRODUCT SUPPORT AG CD XXXX(last four digit of may debit cards number)" which has been taking away £2 monthly since last August. There is no other information provided. I enquired my bank and they say it is Currys PC World taking the money for some "break down" cost. I went to Currys but they but they didn't find any contract under my name. So, how can I find out what is really going on.

Hi Salahuddin, Thanks for getting in touch. I am sorry you have located an unwanted payment to us on your account, please accept my apologies. So I can investigate further, can I take your full address (at the time of purchase last August) and the direct debit reference on the payment. Thanks in advance, Marcus

Hi, I guess I found the problem, it started January this year. Not in August (accept my apologies). I bought a computer screen from Currys in January. But I clearly remember that I didn't accepted any insurance/breakdown policy. I have been charged since February. It is not direct debit, it shows DEB (debit). My address then (Jan 2015) was - 15 Galleon House, Glengarnock Avenue, E14 3DJ, London. My present address is - 9 Herbert Road, Manor Park, E12 6AY, London.

No problem Salahuddin. I have just ensured this agreement has been cancelled with immediate effect. Although we would not normally refund payments already taken as these appear on your monthly statement and are therefore visible. However given the circumstances I am happy to arrange a BACS transfer for £24.00 as a gesture of goodwill. If this is acceptable, please provide your contact telephone number (we call you to take your bank details). Thanks Marcus.

Thanks again Marcus. One last thing, would you please let me know how this thing happened. Because, me and my partner went together to buy the product from Currys, and both of us clearly remember that we didn't accepted any insurance when offered. So, I am still confused how it happened. If the mistake was from my side, I would like to know what it was as I don't want to get into similar issues. Cheers, Salahuddin

Hi Salahuddin, To be honest, given this was nearly a year ago it would be difficult to comment on what happened at the point of sale. Typically the product support is offered for free for the first 28 days as an incentive by the store. Unless this is cancelled after this point it will run continuously from there on. Of course I am only speculating that this happened on this occasion. Marcus.
