[LAPSED] Cancelled direct debit by currys

Complaint against Currys PC World

We have tried to claim on our whatever plan and were advised today that our direct debit of £5.49 was rejected by our bank. We were unaware of this and had received no notification from either the bank or currys. The bank have stated that all of our whatever agreements (we have lots for different appliances) are still active. I have advised currys if this but I’m being told it’s not their problem its the bank that’s cancelled it. I have asked for proof of this rejected direct debit but was advised that nothing can be done about it from currys side. I was also advised that a letter was sent out to me to advise me that they were unable to collect the dd- again no proof can be given. I was advised that the letters get generated but they don’t follow them up to see if we received them or not! This is extremely frustrating that we have a tv that’s broken and I have no way of claiming on an insurance policy which was supposed to give us “piece of mind” someone has to take responsibility for cancelling our direct debit. We have a number of policy’s with currys, never had a problem so never noticed that money not going out!!

Hi Karen, sorry to hear of the problems. We are able to reinstate agreements that lapse however it does depend on the amount of time that has passed. Though I appreciate the frustration, we would hope that our customers can let us know if they notice any issue or lack of payment leaving their account so we can assist ASAP.
