[LAPSED] Currys PC World want your name and postcode for marketing

Complaint against Currys PC World

Purchased an item today at a store in Norwich and was served by a person who you could tell did not want to be there, but will not name her. Whilst entering my debit card I was asked for my initial and surname, which I thought was a bit strange. I gave the details reluctantly but drew the line for when asked for my postcode. I asked why and the miserable person said my name and postcode was for the receipt. I said no as I did not believe her reply and that my details would be used for marketing. She mumbled under her breath. Disgraceful that my name was not on the receipt and I hate bloody being lied to by corporate idiots. Numerous calls were made to report this to a head office who obviously will not give a dam, but always being put on hold and not being answered by a joke company who will start the response with how sorry they are I gave up to use the medium. As a public relations expert, I will not stop until this is resolved to my full satisfaction.

Hi Michael, thank you for your post and bringing this the attention of the Social Media Department. We do at the point of sale ask for the customers name and address for the purposes of the receipt. If there is a problem with the product it is easy to identify the purchase from the customers postcode and surname. I offer my apologies that you feel that the sales assistant was not being honest. 1/2
