[LAPSED] Faillure to deliver a service

Complaint against Currys PC World

I have booked a hard drive in for date recovery and was told it takes 7-10 working days. 2 weeks later i find myself chasing them up on the phone and in store to be told that it takes 2 weeks and that they ll contact me to keep me updated. Furthermore, no calls no emails i started again after 20 days chasing them up on the phone and in store but still no update. until i insisted one day in store to found out what is going on. A day later i get a call to be told that it is under evaluation and that i should be getting it within 3 days. A month has gone and still nothing , no updates, no calls, no emails.I call back again ( waiting time on the phone every time i rang was ranging at 17-25 minutes) i get told the engineer are sorting it out and that i have to give 4 days to find the part that they are missing. ! month and 10 days later, i receive a call advising me to pay 300 pounds for it to be fixed otherwise it will be sent back to me which i found disgusting after the appalling service given. I am therefore, requesting someone who cares about the reputation of the company and the customer satisfaction to look into this matter and resolve it. Regards

Hi, I apologise for the timescales involved assessing the hard drive and the frustration it has caused you. Please can I have your address and any reference numbers you may have to enable me to locate your details. I will then be able to check the service centers notes. If the £300.00 fee was quoted this would be due to the technical work needed to retrieve the data in question. This fee is non negotiable - Tony

Hi, the hard drive is with a third party recovery specialist R n R who called you. I have emailed them to contact you to arrange the return of the hard drive to you. I apologise it took them so long to contact you. Sorry we can not offer anything as part payment towards the recovery - Tony

Hi there Kindly return the hard drive back asap. Please be advised I have also included a new hard drive in case the data recovery was successful. If anything happens to the gard drive as they re all fragile i hope you guys will be held responsible. As far as your response goes ,I'm utterly disappointed and would never consider a service from your company again. Also please refund me the full amount I have paid as per your rules. Will definitely never consider or recommend your services.

Hi, I am sorry to hear this and apologise for the delay in receiving the HDD. Having looked into this for you, the delay was due to the busy time of year and as delays have occurred with courier deliveries over this period, this was the cause for the delay with the return of the HDD. I went to pick up the hdd from the store ans spoke to a manager about all the hassle I have been going through with PCWORLD. It seems like excuses after excuses with no formal follow up on my case .I have been caught up between the customer service dep and the store and noone seems to deal with the core of the issue and contact me directly or even respond to my emails sent previously. I'm so furious and devastated with the level of ignorance my complaint has been dealt with.

When testing the brand new hdd I have provided for the data to be recovered into I found out that it has been damaged. I feel I keep on being inconvenienced for choosing to go to you and use your service. For the million time, would someone please look into this and respond back with a responsible answer not just an apology and thanking me for getting in touch before I escalate this a lot further.
